Ministries

C.A.R.E. (Christians Actively Reach Everyone)
CARE ministry provides a way for our church to minister to the needs of our church family and the community through card writing, prayer, and visitation. Our CARE ministry is ongoing, and is active on fourth Wednesday nights with intentional prayers and card writing. Visits and needs are met upon requests.

Men’s and Women’s Ministries
These groups meet at various times throughout the year for Bible study, prayer, ministry and missions opportunities, and fellowship.

“Much Loved” Shut-In Ministry
This ministry takes seasonal care packages to church and community members that are homebound, sick, and in need of encouragement.

White Oak Nursing Home Ministry
Volunteers who love to sing and minister to seniors at our local nursing home can meet at White Oak Nursing Home in Tryon every third Tuesday night. We sing old Gospel hymn favorites, pray, and share a devotion each month.

Polk County Jail Ministry
Midway’s Men are on a rotation with our Polk County Jail and Polk Baptist Association jail ministry. On select Thursday nights, our men are asked to come and share the Word of God with the inmates at our local jail.

Bereavement/Food Team
This team available to help with planning meals, cards, flowers, and financial assistance when church family goes through difficult times.

Youth Ministry
Our youth ministry is very active in Bible study, outings, and mission projects throughout the year. The youth serve with the ministry of our church by being involved in our worship services (youth choir, ushering, prayer time, and testimonies), hosting our annual senior luncheon, assisting with children’s ministries (as needed), and missions. Every year, our youth go to camp and a late summer retreat. Our youth also have a monthly outreach called “Saturday Night Life” where students invite other students to hear the Gospel, enjoy fellowship with one another, and worship together.

Children’s Ministry
Our children’s ministry engages children with a fun and Christ-centered environment each week as they learn about Jesus and grow in Him. Midway offers nursery for babies,  Children’s Church during our morning worship service, and classes on Sunday and Wednesday night worship services. We host a week of Vacation Bible School every summer, and we will be hosting a children’s summer camp in July 2016! Our children go on fun outings at various times throughout the year.

Judgment House
Judgment House is a walk-through Gospel drama that presents the reality of people’s choices versus the earthly and eternal consequences. This event usually takes place in the fall, requires a great number of our church family, and sees hundreds of people come through to hear the Gospel. (www.judgementhouse.org)

Music Ministry
Our church is blessed with a number of gifted singers and musicians who love to worship the Lord in song. The Midway Church praise band plays during most services to further enhance our praise and worship to God. Our choir sings songs that uplift the name of the Lord. They also prepare worship celebrations for Christmas and Easter.

Evangelism Explosion
For many years, E.E. has impacted lives around the world by equipping believers to share their faith. Our E.E. ministry exists to equip our church to share their faith in daily life. We train willing participants three times a year for 7 weeks each training unit. As we train, we go out and share the Gospel with our community. E.E. meets every Thursday night at 6:30pm (http://evangelismexplosion.org)

Celebrate Recovery
CR opens doors for men, women and children to come to Jesus for healing physically, mentally, emotionally, and most importantly, spiritually through addressing the hurts, hangups, and habits that keep us from a strong and personal relationship with Jesus and others. CR meets on Thursday nights at 6:30pm (www.celebraterecovery.com)

GPS 10
God’s People Serving is a ministry tool of Midway Baptist Church to fulfill our vision and calling to reach the people of our community with the Gospel. Several weeks out of the year, we do various work/services projects around the church campus and community, pray, fellowship, and share the Gospel with homes within a ten mile radius of the church. This is an ongoing ministry effort that will never end as the need for Jesus Christ and His Church will always be present.

Missions
Midway Baptist Church is a proud member locally of the Polk Baptist Association of Churches, state-wide of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, and nationally of the Southern Baptist Convention. We participate and contribute in the offerings, ministry opportunities, resources, and mission trips each organization offers.
